what is software?

 The software is another name for a program , which tell a computer how to process data into the form you want.

There are two major kinds of software : (1) system software,  (2)application software.

1. System software: The user interacts  primarily with application software . system software enables the application software to interacts with the computer hardware . system software is 'background software' that helps the computer manage its own internal resources.

System software is not a single program. Rather , it is a collection of programs, including the following:  

•  Operating system are program that coordinate computer resources , provide an interface between users and the computer, and run applications.
• Utilities perform specific tasks related to managing computer resources.
• Device drivers are specialised programs designed to allow particular input or output devices to communicate with the rest of the computer system . 

(2): Application software : Application software might be described as end - user software . 

Three types of application software are general-purpose applications , specialised  , and  mobile applications. 

1.  General-purpose applications are widely used in nearly all career areas. They are the kinds of programs you have to know to be considered an efficient and effective end users . some of the best known as given below :

• file explorer
• browser
• word processor
• spreadsheets
• database management system
• presentation graphics
• email client

(2):  Specialised applications include thousands of other programs that are more narrowly focused on specific discipline and occupations. Two the known  specialised application are graphics and web authoring programs.

(3):  mobile applications also known as mobile apps, are small programs primarily designed for mobile devises such as smartphones and tablets. 

There are over 3 millions apps. the  popular mobile apps are used for

•  social networking, 
• playing games
• download the videos
• listening the music.

when you think of a personal computer (pc) , perhaps you just think of the equipment , such as the screen or the keyboard. yet , there is more to a personal computer than that. the best way to think about a personal computer is as part of an information system. 

An information system has several parts: people ,procedures ,software , hardware , data , and the Internet .

• people: It is easy to overlook people as one of the parts of an information system  . Yet this is what personal computer are all about - making people , end users like you , more productive.
• procedures: The rules or guidelines which are to be followed by  people when using software , hardware , and data are known as procedures.
• software : A program is  a step - by - step instruction that tell a computer how to do its work. The software is another name for a program.

• DATA : The raw , unprocessed facts, including text, numbers , image , sounds etc.  
• INTERNET: Almost all information systems connect and interact with other people and computer this is done by the INTERNET.
